Cookie Policy

Last updated: 5 July 2026

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, provide a better user experience, and give information to website operators. Cookies can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (stored until they expire or you delete them).

2. Our Approach — We Don't Use Cookies

ClaimX is committed to your privacy. The ClaimX website does not set any cookies of its own — not even for functionality. We use no tracking, analytics, advertising, or marketing cookies, and we do not build profiles of your browsing behaviour or serve targeted advertisements. Instead, the small amount of state the platform needs is kept in your browser's session storage (explained below), which never leaves your device.

3. Browser Storage We Use

Rather than cookies, ClaimX uses your browser's built-in storage for essential functionality only. These items are stored on your device, are never transmitted to our servers, and are not used for tracking:

Item Storage type Purpose Duration
cx-session Session storage Keeps you signed in to the app while you use it Cleared when you close the browser tab
Tax calculation inputs In-memory / session Powers the refund estimator and self-filing tools in your browser Cleared when you leave or close the page

Because we use session storage rather than persistent cookies, this data is automatically cleared when you close the tab — nothing about your visit is retained on your device long-term.

4. Third-Party Cookies

ClaimX does not set or allow any third-party cookies. We do not use third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics), social media plugins, or advertising networks. Payment processing is handled by Paystack through a secure payment window — any cookies set by Paystack during the payment step are governed by Paystack's own cookie and privacy policies and are not set on the claimx.co.za domain.

5. Clearing Your Data

You can clear ClaimX's session and browser storage at any time by closing the tab, signing out, or using your browser's "clear site data" / "clear browsing data" settings. Because no persistent cookies are set, no long-term identifiers remain after you leave.

6. How to Manage Site Data

You can clear ClaimX's session storage at any time through your browser settings. Note that clearing it while signed in will log you out of the app:

Because ClaimX uses session storage rather than persistent cookies, closing the browser tab already clears this data automatically.

7. POPIA Compliance

Our approach to browser storage complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). The limited session data described above is used solely to operate the platform on the lawful basis of legitimate interest, and is subject to the same protections described in our Privacy Policy and POPIA Notice.

8. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. If we introduce cookies in future, we will notify you and obtain your consent where required before setting any non-essential cookies. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
